When you remove the gearbox from the car, the turbine must follow the box down, the same when you fit the gearbox back on the car. The turbine must always be mounted on the box.
In 1964 there were 2 different gearboxes, this is how you check which gearbox you have:
The TH 400 box is 3-speed. You can see it most easily on the gear indicator, the slope is 2nd from the left, closest to the parking lot. The oil pan has 13 bolts
The Jetaway box is 4-speed. You can see it most easily on the gear indicator, the slope is on the far right. The oil pan has 14 bolts to the pan.
