A refurbished Cadillac original kickdown strut. This strut goes between the gearbox and the carburettor, and controls the gears of the gearbox and the pressure in the box. If this brace is missing or if it is incorrectly adjusted, the gearbox will be damaged. The link between the strut and the carburetor is sold separately.
Tip!
Adjust the strut at the carburettor, so that the engine revs up before a new gear is engaged. Not so that all the gears fall in almost at once. If the strut is adjusted so that it becomes shorter, the box shifts later, If the strut is adjusted so that it becomes longer, the box shifts earlier. Experiment. Just in time is best!
