Now we have newly manufactured it S Shaped the spring for the front ashtrays. The newly manufactured spring is identical to a new Cadillac original spring. A spring is required for each ashtray. The function of the spring is to hold the door in place in the closed position so that the door does not lie and rattle. It also holds the ashtray lid in the open position. Look at the pictures and you will see examples of placement of the spring. The spring is sold piece by piece. 

Tip!

Be careful when installing the spring so it doesn't bounce off and end up in your eye or just disappear for good in the garage. Sometimes it may be easiest to disassemble the entire mechanism with the ashtray mechanism and cover to install the spring.
