Check that the electrical cable that goes to the door contact is in good condition, replace any damaged cable. The function of this type of door contact is that it grounds the cable that comes to the contact, therefore you can easily check if the cable is ok by grounding the cable to the body, if the interior lighting is on then everything is ok.
