Generally
Renovation kit for the steering gear, contains gaskets, seals, needle bearings, ball bearings and bushings, most of what you might need to renovate the steering gear. A Cadillac steering wheel like this consists of 2 different sections.
The part that manages the power steering has 2 pressure hoses that go to the power steering pump, where you fill Automatic transmission oil type "A" or a power steering oil. The other part is the shell part itself. There you use the steering gear oil. If you completely disassemble the steering gear, lubricate all parts in the steering gear with this oil, then top up to the correct level.
This fits a late 1953, steering gear number higher than 3142. Check the outer diameter of the pitman shaft stuffing box, it's approx: 39.8mm then it's a late 1953.
