Now the steering wheel should release, if not start over. But spray on some rust remover and let it work for a day before the next attempt. Then when you assemble everything remember to install the turn signal return sleeve (strangely shaped sheet metal sleeve with a narrow little stick on it) It should be mounted on the underside of the steering wheel with the small stick into the small hole that is drilled under the steering wheel. when it is under the steering wheel, push the steering wheel gently so that the metal sleeve stays in place at all times.
