This is a Delco, GM Original complete factory reconditioned alternator 63 amp, with built in charge controller from ca: 1973. It fits right into the bracket that you have, and is very similar in appearance to your original alternator. It comes with a simple wiring diagram. You can leave your old charging regulator for the sake of appearance if you want, but it is not used.

Save the old generator, regulator and cable tangle. You never know when you will be hit by the original renovation need.
