Check the engine number, so you know the model year of the engine block. The first two numbers are the model year. So, for example, it says 59G123456 the engine block comes from a 1959 Coupe. It says 5560123456 so the engine block comes from a 1955 Fleetwood.
Tip!
Scrape clean thoroughly, brush with a wire brush, clean thoroughly, spray on degreaser. The engine number is there and it is punched. If it's not there, someone has sanded it away.
