Description

A bottle of 1qt = 0.95 liters. 10w-30 Lucas Motor Oil, Made in USA. Lucas is a large and well-known oil manufacturer in the USA. They have specialized in special oils and oil additives, and hold the American flag very high. In Sweden, Lucas is not that big yet, but it is growing strongly as a good and high-quality oil product. Many customers ask for a Made in USA oil with a high zinc content and here we have it. ZDDP So what we call The zinc content of this oil is more than twice as high as required for an old Cadillac engine. The zinc content is so high that you must not use this oil for newer ones cars that have a catalytic converter, then the catalytic converter will fail. The 10w-30 viscosity is exactly what you should use for your Cadillac engine if you read the workshop manual, your engine is in good condition and you want a Made in USA oil with an excessive dose of zinc additive then you have it.

ZDDP?

One of the additives in motor oils is ZDDP (Zinc Diakyl Dithio Phosphate). This additive has roughly the same function as the surface-active, and smelly, additives in transmission oils. This is about helping the oil on surfaces that are exposed to extreme friction, for example the valve lifters that are pressed against the camshaft. ZDDP forms a film between the steel surfaces and protects them from metal-to-metal contact, which leads to rapid wear, and in the worst case failure. For environmental reasons, they want to reduce the amount of sulphated ash from motor vehicles, and one way is to reduce the zinc content in motor oils, i.e. the amount of ZDDP.

Tip!

Always change the oil filter when you change the oil. We recommend that you change the oil when you have driven 500 miles of mixed driving, if you only drive short drives and a lot in town, change at 300 miles. Is it the most long-distance driving and country roads you drive, change at 700 miles. But remember to always change once a year, even if you drive very little, because condensation and corrosive acids will mix with the oil. Change the oil and run the engine really warm before putting the car away for the winter.
