Description
Some late 1973 transmissions have a Packbox that sits on the shifter shaft. But there can also be an O-ring VAX-1767 So you have to check what type of shaft seal you have. This is what the shaft looks like if you have the P-Box type, i.e. no groove for the O-ring. 
Tip!
Jack up the car and wash off the gearbox with degreaser, rinse thoroughly with warm water. Lie under the car and check where the first drop of oil comes from, then it's easier to find where the box is leaking oil.
