You thread this nipple into Tex: a water pump if the hole is too large for the hose connection you are going to use. If the hole is approx. 18-19mm and the nipple you are going to use has an outer dimension of approx. 16-17mm, then it will be perfect to thread this adapter. If you want to know the thread sizes, the outer thread is 1/2 NPT and the inner thread is 3/8 NPT. This is by far the most common adapter nipple for water pumps and cooling systems in the Cadillac world.
If you want, you can brush on a thin layer of gasket adhesive on the joints before installing the plug. But it often seals anyway, because the gang is conical.
