Be careful when you put the new distributor down, the oil pump shaft may have gone up a bit, and if you don't get the shaft back to the pump properly, the distributor will go too heavy. Then the distributor gear and the camshaft at the front fail. If the oil pump shaft is bad, replace it.

HEI Means: High Energy Ignition And it was the new switchless ignition system that GM came standard with in 1975, in 1974 it was an optional extra on Cadillac.
If you have an HEI ignition system, the distributor cap is mounted with 4 screws and the ignition coil sits on top of the distributor cap.
If you don't have an HEI ignition system, the distributor cover is mounted with 2 screws and you have a regular round ignition coil that sits a bit from the distributor.
