When replacing the vacuum clock, check the condition of all the cables inside the distributor. Be sure to replace the switch and capacitor. Don't forget switch distance and ignition setting afterwards.
HEI Means: High Energy Ignition And it was the new switchless ignition system that GM came standard with in 1975, in 1974 it was an optional extra on Cadillac.
If you have an HEI ignition system, the distributor cap is mounted with 4 screws and the ignition coil sits on top of the distributor cap.
If you don't have an HEI ignition system, the distributor cover is mounted with 2 screws and you have a regular round ignition coil that sits a bit from the distributor.
