A slightly thicker engine oil with a viscosity of 20w-50
SKU: KEM-2051
Enhet: piece
Description
If you prefer a slightly thicker engine oil with a viscosity of 20w-50, this is a great engine oil from the Gulf brand. This is a good motor oil for older engines. If you read what the workshop manual says, 20w-50 is a little too thick oil for a Cadillac engine. But many people ask for 20w-50 oil and think it works well. So if you only drive in the summer or have a worn engine, it's perfectly fine. It may take a little longer for the oil to reach all lubrication points if it's cold outside, so we don't think you should use this oil if it's freezing outside. It is a pure mineral oil with no synthetic ingredients. It has a good content of ZDDP which is a must for older engines. As mentioned, the viscosity is 20w-50, which is extremely resistant to heat, but not suitable in cooler temperatures. This bottle contains 1 liter.
ZDDP?
One of the additives in motor oils is ZDDP (Zinc Diakyl Dithio Phosphate). This additive has roughly the same function as the surface-active, and smelly, additives in transmission oils. This is about helping the oil on surfaces that are exposed to extreme friction. ZDDP forms a film between the steel surfaces and protects them from metal-to-metal contact, which leads to rapid wear, and in the worst case failure. For environmental reasons, they want to reduce the amount of sulfated ash from motor vehicles, and one way is to reduce the zinc content in the motor oils, i.e. the amount of ZDDP. The Gulf 20w-50 oil has a good amount of ZDDP
Tip!
Always change the oil filter when you change the oil. We recommend that you change the oil when you have driven 500 miles of mixed driving, if you only drive short drives and a lot in town, change at 300 miles. Is it the most long-distance driving and country roads you drive, change at 700 miles. But remember to always change once a year, even if you drive very little, because condensation and corrosive acids will mix with the oil. Change the oil and run the engine really warm before putting the car away for the winter.
