Brand new Bendix replacement master cylinder. The Cadillac original Bendix master cylinder has a locking screw that secures the piston to the underside of the master cylinder. But it may have been replaced at some point, so check if there is a 42mm deep pit in the piston where the pin from the brake servo goes in, then this is the right master cylinder.
Tip!
Before installing the master cylinder, secure it in the vise and fill with brake fluid. Take a screwdriver and push the piston forward, then hold the brake pipe holes with your fingers and release the piston back to the end position. Repeat this until you have pumped all the air out of the master cylinder, now it is much easier to get the air out of it after assembly.
Bendix or Moraine?
Bendix
Under the master cylinder there is a screw that goes straight up into the cylinder and holds the piston in place, this only applies to Cadillac original master cylinders. There is a 42mm deep pit in the piston where the pin from the brake servo goes.
Moraine
There is no screw under the master cylinder. There is a 6mm deep pit in the piston where the pin from the brake servo goes into.
