On a 6 Volt car, it is extra important to have a good ground between the engine, frame, body and battery. Do you have poor speed on the starter motor? It can be as simple as an earth fault, feel free to fit an extra earth cable.

It could also be paint or dirt on the contact surfaces, scrape clean thoroughly of paint and dirt before you install the new ground cables. It can be good to fit extra earth cables on 6 Volt cars.
