Extra cold summer thermostat that opens at 66 degrees Celsius
A thermostat in original design that opens at 150 Fahrenheit = 66 degrees Celsius. The thermostat is mounted with the "bellows" downwards in the water pump hole. We usually say this thermostat is a cold thermostat that opens earlier than a normal thermostat. If you have heating problems, it may be a little better with an earlier opening.
Change the coolant every 5 years, the rust protection becomes worse with old coolant. You should have a mixture of 50-60% glycol, then you raise the boiling point, then you have good rust protection and not least you avoid a frozen engine block. The garage where the car is parked over the winter can be without electricity and heat. Every spring we get phone calls from customers with frozen engine blocks.
